I love this weather. I am terrified of driving in it.

The things I love most in this world are my son, John Burchett, my family, my friends, music, and violent weather. Even as I driving to work trying not to cry because I was so scared of getting into another accident, I was thanking God for the weather because it is just so beautiful. Can you feel the lightning in your veins and the thunder in your heart? I adore this weather. I am terrified of the roads.

I never go through water crossings, either when there are signs or no. But today the exit from my house out to FM471 was already a white water rapids at least 2 1/2 feet deep. So I turned around to go to the Potranco exit, the only other exit, and that was flooded, too, but not as bad. I had to go through it or I would not only not make it to work, but I would be stuck at my house for at least three days with no way out. The exit to Potranco never floods. That's how bad it is out there.

So I went through the river, and there was someone on the other side who had the common sense to not cross it, but they waited there while I proceeded to drive through the river, get caught in the current, freak out, hit the gas, and by the grace of God get through it.

I feel both foolish and stupid, also grateful that I did not get swept away.

But I can't go home.

How can something that I love so much, something so beautiful, something that never fails to make me feel electric with life, be so destructive and terrifying? We also had a tornado warning out by my house, and, like the last time when a tornado really did hit, no sirens. The kids in the neighborhood are at school right now, and I called the school to tell them to get as many kids home as possible right now because by the time school lets out, all roads that lead home will be flooded.

Even my yard is a lake right now with at least 2 inches of water. I now own lake front property.

A pyrocumulus, or, literally, fire cloud, is a dense cumuliform cloud associated with fire or volcanic activity.[1]

A pyrocumulus is similar dynamically in some ways to a firestorm, and the two phenomena may occur in conjunction with each other. However, one may occur without the other.

Today my mom asked my step-dad what he would do if my mom won the lottery. He said he would take half and leave her. My mom then said "good I won twelve dollars, here's six.. now go !" Mom, your hilarious. MLIA

So today I FaceBook chatted my mom...her response, "I can't talk to you right now, I'm doing some serious stalking." MLIA

Today, in my math class, another math teacher walked in to talk to mine. He finished his conversation, but as he was leaving he said to my teacher (a woman), "So I hear you scored last night?" She smiled and said that yes, she had. She then turned to us, her face bright red, and said, "In hockey." Good to know she thinks like we do. MLIA.

Today in Geometry, the student aid was coming around to stamp our homework logs. Frantically, I searched through my book and binder... but couldn't find mine. As he approached me.... I said in a panic, "Gaah I can't find my homework log! Can you come back in a minute?" He then looked at me, looked down at my desk, stamped my log, looked at me again like I was an idiot and walked away. Oops. MLIA
^sounds like something I would do.

Never use the term "Lickety-split" to someone new to this country. You will have to explain, frantically, in broken Japanese, that it’s not a sexual suggestion. #LFMF

Never assume the small rodent shivering on your store’s windowsill is a hamster, no matter how much it looks like one, or the fact that PetSmart is right next door. Bats are VERY good at completely hiding their wings beneath them, and don’t care so much for being scooped into boxes. #LFMF

When packing a backpack for a short trip, be careful how you store your electric toothbrush. It could go off while you and everyone else on the bus is sleeping. While you’re trying to fish it out and turn it off, no one will believe that sound is coming from a toothbrush. This is especially embarrassing in a foreign country. #LFMF

Tell your grandmother your little brother just needs to end his video game, not that he’s "going to kill himself and then we can go to dinner." #LFMF

When getting your patients ready for the day, never ask the woman with one leg where her other shoe is. #LFMF

Caller: “No, I mean I don’t understand what you said before.”

POEM

Daffodils Forgotten

A callow man takes up the mantle
driven on to make his mark,
conjoined in blurred arrangement
whilst conviction is securely parked.

And yet the heaviest burden falls
on those already bent,
bright daffodils forgotten
with life valued only in percent.

The journalists of the people
spouting reactionary spat encores,
turn your blind eyes toward celebrity
whilst your brothers join the poor.

As life's price receives appraisal
value so precious is thrown away,
the oldest and the broken
left alone in cold hard disarray.
